The Talk Show

The Talk Show

In the words of Charles R. Swindoll- “Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children.” In our unconditional efforts to create and leave long lasting memories, Circle Time in Aadya Academy is a great way to encourage ourstudents to play, learn, think, wonder, question, make mistakes, learn to accept failures and more.

Aadya Academy understands the need to speak fluently and confidently. In this light, ‘The Talk Show’ is one of the school’s dream ventures. It is particularly designed to enable learners to get a platform to express themselves radiantly. Students are either given topics or allowed to choose their own topics. The Talk Show is a unique way to allow students to display their knowledge and understanding about the content on a platform where parents and facilitators are the audience. The event is a great opportunity for the parents to get an insight into the learning process of their children.

It is the extent to which someone can speak smoothly and effectively on a range of topics in a language.

Fluency is the bedrock of how we are perceived as communicators. And the bottom line for all our students is communication. They are studying a language in order to be able to use it – effectively.

The easy answer is yes, as a responsible school , we create the conditions that allow our students to develop fluency. And how do we do that?

Well, it’s a process and there’s no magic wand. It takes time, patience and perseverance, like all learning.

  • We allow for plenty of time and space in class for students to attempt to communicate freely without being judged.
  • Design tasks that create a need and/or an interest in communicating – and that means both speaking and listening.
  • Allow time for preparation and scaffolding of the language before the task – this allows the students to feel more confident when they come to perform the task, and confidence has a direct effect on fluency.
  • We use positive reinforcement techniques to motivate our students to participate in Public Speaking Programmes.
